letter from the director

We have just completed another session of fun family music-making!  As we enjoy these first days of summer with family and friends, I would like to share my heartfelt greetings with all the families who  have participated in one or more classes in our center.  I am very enthusiastic about the great opportunities that lie ahead in growing the presence of Music Together® in the Marblehead, Salem & Beverly communities!

What has always motivated me as a musician and teacher is the realization of how powerful music can be to connect people. When I found myself in a Music Together class for the first time with my son in Cambridge, MA, I knew I had discovered something that would allow me to create a positive impact wherever I’d be. My son was already 3 years old when I first got acquainted to the program, but even so he got a lot out of it. Either on an opportunity the teacher created for him to improvise with words, ideas or sounds or by singing along with other children and me, his mom.

In my first two semesters I often had watery eyes, watching my son and the other children connecting through music, being comfortable around each other and singing the goodbye song.

I hold on to these early feelings that brought me to love Music Together, as I make all the efforts to bring and create this same perspective to my classes every single time.

If you are new to Music Together and are considering registering for one of our classes, I encourage you to navigate our entire website, as well as the Music Together national website for a richness of information about this wonderful program and its philosophy.

In the meantime, enjoy the beginning of a new season ahead and please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or comments.

Warmest regards,

Teresa Coelho, Mus. Ed.
