BABIES ONLY CLASSES
Every child’s music development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together®® offers two options for babies. Infants may attend a mixed-age class, whether registered on their own or attending free with an older sibling. They may also be registered for the special “Babies Class” offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together. The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in infants. Meet other parents of newborns and learn fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby. Babies must be under six months old on the first day of class. Most babies in this program range from 3-5 months at the start of the semester. We recommend infants older than six months register for mixed-age classes. This class cannot be repeated.
IS MY BABY TOO YOUNG?
Babies learn music the same way they learn language; by being immersed in it. Just as it is never too early to start talking to your baby, it is never too early to start singing with your baby.
It's never too early to start making music with your baby since, as suggested by many studies, early exposure benefits a child's musical development. The music activities used in class such as finger plays, lap songs and songs without words are designed especially for newborns and non-movers. They will also provide the parent or care taker with an endless repertoire for changing diapers and playing with their baby, creating musical memories that will grow with the family.
Research suggests that even infants can discriminate pitch and sounds. So come meet other parents and learn about musical development for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
